The Centre for the Study of Evidence-Based Medicine (CEMBE) was officially invited by the Cochrane Collaboration (CC) – through the Iberoamerican Cochrane Centre – to be the Cochrane Coordinating Center in Portugal.

Cochrane’s invitation is a sign of its acknowledgment of the impact and quality of the scientific output of CEMBE for the past 12 years, leading to its inclusion in this prestigious organization which nowadays plays a unique role in health systems worldwide.

The Centre will be responsible for the following actions, among others: 1) be the information point for Cochrane Collaboration in Portugal; 2) organize advanced training activities on systematic reviews; 3) contribute to the dissemination of the Cochrane Library in Portugal; 4) support groups or individuals who wish to be involved in preparing Cochrane’s systematic reviews; 5) disseminate the activities of CC and identify clinical research (especially clinical trials) made in Portugal; 6) develop and publish research in the areas of the systematic literature reviews; and 7) participate in the management of CC internationally, by forming part of the several committees of the Network.
